Colorado - Canon City & Alamoso

Viewed the Royal Gorge Bridge from the top.  Unfortunately, due to wild fires last year, you are no longer able to access the bridge, which is 1000 feet above the Arkansas River.

 

Then we took the train which runs along the Arkansas River.  The river is currently about 3 feet above normal so it was flowing very swiftly.

After leaving Canon City, on our way to Alamosa for the night, we stopped off at Great Sand Dunes National Park.  These are the largest dunes in North America, some towering 700 feet high.  Unbelievable to have such beauty against the mountains, surrounded by rivers on both sides of the dunes.
